Annual Cary Center Nonprofit Summit

The Cary Center Nonprofit Summit is an annual conference hosted in the fall for nonprofit professionals and features renowned executives and leading experts. The 6th Annual Cary Center Nonprofit Summit, which took place on Oct. 17, 2022, at the Hotel at Auburn University featured Horst Schultz, co-founder of Ritz-Carlton Hotels, philanthropist, and author of Excellence Wins, as the luncheon speaker for the summit titled, “Growing Forward-Excellence Wins”.

Meet Me at the VIC

Since 2009, the College of Human Sciences has offered a minor in philanthropy and nonprofit studies and in the Fall of 2019, the College of Human Science’s launched the philanthropy and nonprofit studies major. With these two offerings, Auburn students are required to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector through either a practicum or internship.

One of the Cary Center’s upcoming student preparedness opportunities is the Annual Meet Me at the V.I.C. – The Cary Center Nonprofit Volunteer, Internship & Career Fair. Meet Me at the V.I.C. aims to connect Auburn students with nonprofit professionals for volunteer, internship, or career positions.

Meet Me at the V.I.C is a free event for Auburn students and hosted in the spring semester of each academic year.

Outreach Programming for Nonprofit Professionals

Currently the Cary Center is partnering with community foundations and nonprofits across the state of Alabama and beyond to produce capacity building training for nonprofit professionals, board members, and community members. A current program, titled “Grow Your Nonprofit: Resources to Maximize Impact” includes sessions on nonprofit accounting basics, board responsibilities and effectiveness, fundraising and grant writing, and building effective partnerships.
